چکیده

The present work describes the vortex–vortex interactions observed during laboratory experiments, where a single regular water wave is allowed to travel over discontinuous rigid bed promoting generation of both near-bed and surface vortices. While vortices are generated by flow separation occurring at discontinuity, induced breaking in conjunction with breaking-induced jet. A ‘backward breaking’ (previously case solitary waves) occurs air–water interface downstream discontinuity generates anticlockwise vortex that interacts clockwise vortex. With interaction influenced many physical mechanisms, point-vortex model, which evolve under self-advection (in relation free seabed) mutual interaction, has been implemented separately investigate vortex- wave-induced dynamics. available data indicate governing mechanisms for downward motion vortex, effect jet being negligible. same two combined mean flow, responsible almost horizontal oscillating path investigation paths allow us group performed tests into three distinct classes, each characterized specific range nonlinearity. time evolution main variables characterizing (e.g. circulation, kinetic energy, enstrophy, radius) their maximum values increase nonlinearity, such dependences described synthetic best-fit formulas.

Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of Anaerobic Fluidized Bed Biofilm Reactors

This work presents an experimental and theoretical investigation of anaerobic fluidized bed reactors (AFBRs). The bioreactors are modeled as dynamic three-phase systems. Biochemical transformations are assumed to occur only in the fluidized bed zone. The biofilm process model is coupled to the system hydrodynamic model through the biofilm detachment rate; which is assumed to be a first-order fu...

Theoretical and Experimental Study of Potato Shoot Gasification in Fluidized- and Fixed-Bed Gasifier

A bench-scale updraft gasifier was used as a fluidized- and fixed-bed gasification unit in three modes (fluidized-bed at equivalence ratios (ER) =0.2 and 0.25, and a mode in fixed-bed). The experiments were done in five different temperatures (650, 700, 750, 800 and 850oC). To obtain the required data to develop a thermodynamic equilibrium model, the proximate and ultimate analysis w...

Interaction between IGFBP7 and insulin: a theoretical and experimental study

Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) can bind to insulin with high affinity which inhibits the early steps of insulin action. Lack of recognition mechanism impairs our understanding of insulin regulation before it binds to insulin receptor. Here we combine computational simulations with experimental methods to investigate the interaction between IGFBP7 and insulin. Molecular dy...

Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of SO2 Adsorption from Flue Gases in a Fluidized Bed of Copper Oxide

Among the air pollutants, sulfur dioxide has been given special emphasis for posing dangers to the environment. SO2 emissions in the air have harmful effects on human health and the environment. Respiratory diseases and exacerbation of heart diseases are among dangerous symptoms for human health, especially when high concentrations of SO2 are emitted. Therefore, in the present study, a wide var...
